Meet the Blackout Leather Productions

Board of Directors

President: Thom Butts

Thom Butts has been a member of the Portland Leather community since the early 1990's. As well as being Mr. Oregon State Leather 1997, treasurer of Blackout from 1999-2003, and NW Leather Sir 2009, he has volunteered for several organizations in Portland as varied as Human Rights Campaign and Log Cabin Oregon.  He is a member of Mama's Family as Mama's Uniformed Biker.  He re-joined Blackout's board in 2008, and was elected president in March 2009.

His goal for BLP is to give it greater prominence within Portland's Gay & Lesbian Leather community and also on a regional & national level. He also has a strong belief in fiscal prudence and wants to create a firm financial base for BLP and the charities that it supports.

He enjoys reading, international travel, gourmet cooking, and (fortunately) working out at the gym.  Favorite hanky colors include: (in no particular order) Black, Red, Navy, Gray, Silver Lame, Rust, Gold Lame, Teal, and Chamois. He lives in the suburbs with his husband Dominic, two rambunctious puppies and a somewhat indifferent cat.

Vice President: Tobin Tobin Britton has been a long standing member of the Portland, Oregon leather community for well over a decade launching herself head first with memberships in a number of groups in the area. Tobin has spent many years as a member of such groups as Portland Leather Alliance, Rose City Discussion Club, Blackout Leather Productions and Bad Girls. Tobin served as Parade Coordinator and President of Pride Northwest for 5 years, streamlining many aspects of Portland's large pride festival and parade. Tobin has held the titles of  Ms Oregon State Leather 2001 and American Leatherwoman 2002 which afforded her the honor of traveling the country as well as abroad as judge, tallymaster, judges boy and contestant handler for numerous large and small titles. Tobin has presented on such topics as knife play, race play and D/s dynamics for many clubs and organizations throughout the country. She currently serves as President and founding member of The Boiys In Leather Service-Rose City, a volunteer group based on serving its various communities. Tobin is proud and humbled at how the community has embraced and been inspired by the mission and purpose of The BiLS, who have been bestowed Organization of the Year (from GLPW of Seattle) and Non-Profit of the Year (Blackout Leather Productions' Rose and Thorn award) awards. Go BiLS!  Tobin is also a Board Member-At-Large of Blackout Leather Productions which produces the Oregon State contests and NW Sash Bash. Tobin is proud to be a member of the Bloodfolk Clan and Head of House of the Britton stronghold, a poly household that includes his beautiful wife and boy justin, girl joni and pet tani. Tobin is a proud member of Mama's Family as Mama's Daddiruff and Mama's Warrior Slave. Tobin had the honor of being featured on The Logo Channel's Portland, Oregon edition of Round Trip ticket to talk about leather.

Secretary: Mack

Mack first noticed his attraction to leather when he bought his first black leather jacket from a straight friend. From then on, Mack knew he was hooked. Since 1997, he has been involved with Portland Leather Men, and the leather community at large. In 2002, Mack competed in, and won, the title of Mr. Oregon State Leather 2002.

For years, Mack proudly served as a member-at-large on the board of BLP. In 2007, Mack was elected to the office of Vice President of the Board of Blackout Leather Productions. Mack currently resides in the Salem area with his husband, Gary, and his boy/pup, Gene.

Treasurer: Justin Boy Justin is relatively new on his journey into the queer and leather worlds but he burst onto the scene volunteering his time with Pride NW as secretary and Co-Parade Coordinator before he learned that service was his heart's desire. Since that time he's discovered his boy nature and is a collared boy to his Daddy, Tobin Britton (2001 Ms. Oregon State Leather, 2002 American Leatherwoman). As is customary in the Bloodfolk Clan that he is a member of, he gives of his time and serves his community currently as the secretary and a founding member of the Boys/Bois in Leather Service - Rose City. Along with service, he's discovered his passion for bootblacking and is enjoying the mentorship and advice from bootblacks in Oregon and California. When he's not volunteering with his club brothers, Justin loves to serve and play with his Daddy, play with his girl and do boots. He also enjoys riding his motorcycle, playing his bass, living out his racing dreams on his Wii and continuing to learn anything and everything that will help him grow to be the best boy he can be for his Daddy.

  Members at Large:

Brent

Brent Seeley, originally from Maine, was Mr. Oregon State Leather 2009.  He discovered his love for leather in New England but discovered the leather lifestyle after moving to the Great and Kinky Northwest.  Moving from Seattle to Portland, Brent’s "hellbent for leather" passion was so strong, he wanted an accelerated learning curve into the leather community and chose to run for the title.

Gary

Gary grew up in New York City, and then lived near the shores of Lake Erie before moving to Oregon in 1995.  Somewhere while moving up the corporate ladder as a vice president of a bank based in Buffalo NY, Gary started to become allergic to three piece pinstripe suits and came out of the closet at age 29.  After leaving the banking world, Gary changed careers and publicly began wearing his vest, boots & studded belts at work in his new career as "not your average tethered leathered librarian".  Gary actively wears his leathers while attending conferences & volunteering on various committees of the American Library Association, including its nationwide LGBT unit.

Since he established his roots in Salem OR in 1995 as Willamette University's business reference librarian, he became an avid member of Portland Leather Men, and also served a 5 year stint on the board of directors of the local Unitarian-Universalist congregation.  Gary began attending BLP's board meetings as a lay person in 2002, and formally joined BLP's board in 2011.
